Maximise use of natural daylight to ensure greater visual comfort, reduce the need for artificial lighting, lowering energy consumption and operating costs.
Dynamic Insulation™ provides better control of thermal exchanges, enhancing energy efficiency and maintaining thermal comfort.

Automatic window controls reduce the air conditioning bill, and create a healthier and more productive working environment.
Somfy’s commercial solutions can be used in various areas of the building: the entire or part of the façade <Facade Management>, in a specific room <Local controls> or on a single window <Motorisation>.

Centralized controls of shading devices are processed through the Somfy bus lines or open protocols.

The facade, a true membrane
The facade of a building is where the outdoors and indoors meet, where natural and man-made environments come together. Outside, climatic conditions continuously vary according to seasons, weather and the course of each day and night. Inside, living conditions must be as stable and comfortable as possible according to the occupants' activities, needs and personal preferences.
Objective for bioclimatic facades
As we spend most of our life indoors: the occupant is the centerpiece of bioclimatic designs*. With sustainable development as a focal point, the aim is to reduce the energy consumption rate required to operate the building by using natural elements such as air and particularly the sun.

Technical and architectural solutions
To satisfy both these objectives although they may seem contradictory(comfort vs. energy savings), several parameters must be established when designing bioclimatic solutions, such as:
- lifestyle of each occupant, their culture and habits,
- requirements pertaining to different uses of the building: office, school, housing...
- climate and microclimate parameters: ratio of sunlight according to seasons and building orientation, surrounding buildings, vegetation...
Bioclimatic designs also depend on many technical solutions : today, automation of shading devices and window openings is an efficient and certified solution, an undeniable application in bioclimatic facades.
